Sometimes it’s easy to spot false advertising claims. Sometimes not so much.

Buy now! Instant face lift cream! Erase those lines in minutes!

C'mon!

The newest more clever claim is the "All Natural" approach. Some companies throw the natural word around, knowing natural sells. They even design their packaging with earthy colors to trick your mind. These companies rely solely on marketing statistics. They know most people don't buy their products based on ingredients. Most people don't understand what they do.

They have their PR propaganda.

“Expensive products have better ingredients”.

We have truthful Tourette’s.

The price of the product depends on the company making it. You can pay top dollar for the same chemicals that comprise a cheap product. Fancy marketing, good PR and huge AD budgets are what you pay for. Most popular skincare lines spend over 90% of their budget on this. The rest is spent on the actual development of the product.

Sometimes it’s only 3%.

After talking to a lab we discovered some things. Chemists say that their clients come in looking for the same thing all the time. The concerns are how a product looks, how it feels after application, its fragrance and that it’s as inexpensive as possible. To do this they use cheap fillers and preservatives that are made in laboratories, and are comprised of harmful toxic chemicals. These same chemicals are sometimes used to clean grease off garage floors. Some are also found in household cleaners.

Shocked?

Ingredients we would not touch with a ten foot pole.

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate
Sodium Laureth Sulfate
This inexpensive detergent is commonly used in cosmetic cleansers, hair shampoos, bath and shower gels, bubble baths, etc. - It is probably the most dangerous ingredient used in skin and hair-care products. In the cleaning industry SLS is used in garage floor cleaners, engine degreasers, car-wash soaps, etc. It is very corrosive and readily attacks greasy surfaces. Sodium lauryl sulfate is used throughout the world for clinical testing as a primary skin irritant. Laboratories use it to irritate skin on test animals and humans so that they may then test healing agents to see how effective they are on the irritated skin.

A study at the University of Georgia Medical College, indicated that SLS penetrated into the eyes as well as brain, heart, liver, etc., and showed long-term retention in the tissues. The study also indicated that SLS penetrated young children's eyes and prevented them from developing properly and caused cataracts to develop In adults.

May cause hair loss by attacking the follicle. Classified as a drug in bubble baths because it eats away skin protection and causes rashes and infection to occur. Is potentially harmful to skin and hair. Cleans by corrosion. Dries skin by stripping the protective lipids from the surface so it can't effectively regulate moisture. Another extremely serious problem is the connection of SLS with nitrate contamination. SLS reacts with many types of ingredients used in skin products and forms nitrosomines (nitrates). Nitrates are potential cancer-causing carcinogenics. Because of the alarming penetrating power of SLS, large amounts of these known carcinogens are absorbed through the skin into the body. A variation of SLS is SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE (Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate- SLES). It exhibits many of the same characteristics and is a higher-foaming variation of SLS.

Parabens
Early this year the media reported that English researchers identified parabens in samples of breast tumors. Parabens (alkyl esters of p-hydroxybenzoic acid) are widely used as antimicrobial preservatives in thousands of cosmetics, personal care products, pharmaceutical products, and food. There are six commonly used forms (Methylparaben,Ethylparaben, p-Propylparaben, Isobutylparaben, n-Butylparaben and Benzylparaben) and it is estimated that they are used in at least 13,200 cosmetics products. According to the lead researcher of the recent study, Philippa Darbre, an oncology expert at the university of Reading, in Edinburgh, the chemical form of the parabens found in 18 of the 20 tumors tested indicated that they originated from something applied to the skin, the most likely candidates being deodorants, antiperspirants, creams, or body sprays.

Propylene Glycol
Skin sensitizer - can instigate immune system response that can include itching, burning, scaling, hives, and blistering of skin. Penetration enhancer: alter(s) skin structure, allowing other chemicals to penetrate deeper into the skin, increasing the amounts of other chemicals that reach the bloodstream. This chemical is used in these types of products: Moisturizer, Facial Cleanser, Facial Moisturizer/Treatment, Conditioner, Shampoo, Body Wash/Cleanser, Styling Gel/Lotion, Hair Color and Bleaching, Antiperspirant/Deodorant (Men's), Around-eye Cream, Acne Treatment, Exfoliant/Scrub, Antiperspirant/Deodorant, Sunscreen/Tanning Oil, Foundation, Mascara, Foot Treatment, Anti-aging, Sunless Tanning, Skin Fading/Lightener, After Shave, Perfume, Relaxer, Eye Liner, Shaving Cream (Men's), Concealer, Hair Spray, Styling Mousse/Foam, Anti-itch/rash Cream, Body Firming Lotion, Toothpaste, Body Spray, Lip Gloss, Bar Soap, Hair-loss Treatment, Depilatory, Bath Oil/Salts/Soak, Pain/Wound Treatment, Shaving Cream, Liquid Hand Soap, Bubble Bath, Cologne, Baby Lotion

But why because it’s also used in these types of products?
